Rains, Myst, Clouds and the Greenery. It was all so amazing at Matheran during our last visit. While walking from Matheran entrance to our hotel, we saw this road roller put to rest. It was very surprising as one; no vehicles are allowed inside and two; The roads are such that it would impossible to get this heavy duty vehicle inside. But hey, we are all so busy enjoying the walk in the rains so it really didn't matter. The photograph was shot using our Canon A710 IS Digital Camera.

Charlotte Lake in Matheran; Apart from being an absolutely serene and beautiful place the Charlotte lake is also the main source of drinking water in Matheran. Surrounded by greenery, the lake has an awesome panoramic view. I have gone  back to the Matheran pictures as this weekend we are again going to visit the place. It is considered to be heaven during and a little after the monsoon. We hope to get some really mesmerizing photos back with us.
Generally the monkeys in Matheran are considered to be very mischievous. They would snatch away anything from your hand that, they might think is food or something really interesting. So while we capture the photos, we will have to be completely alert about the monkeys near by. :-)

I just browsed through a bunch of photographs to locate more of some really beautiful moments shot at Matheran. Once we walked out of our hotel "Hanjar House" which is located right next to the Matheran railway station, we had to pass through the market area to start visiting all the points at Matheran. On the way I noticed this communication tower emerging from between the lush green trees. It was a wonderful sight as without that tower, you'd get completely disconnected from the rest of the world.
We trekked all the way visiting Khandala point and Alexander Point to reach Rambaug point which had a mesmerizing panoramic view. I wish I had a tripod to shoot a panoramic photograph. If I go there again I'll ensure to carry one.
It immediately after monsoon and there were quite a lot of flowers and greenery all around. Here's one of them.

On our last trip to Matheran, we saw this dead tree at the Chowk Point. The sky looked amazing with the white clouds on blue. The photograph was shot using a Canon A710 IS digital camera. This weeks contribution to SKYWATCH Friday.

Sunset point at Matheran, easily is the most visited by the tourists. We too went there hoping to see a very beautiful sunset and we were lucky. The colors in the sky were awesome and the sight of the setting sun was mesmerizing.

The two photos above were captured using a Canon A710 IS  point and shoot camera in the manual mode.

This photograph was shot using my Canon A710IS digital camera, at the Charlotte Lake in Matheran. A lake in the midst of lush green trees making the lake also reflect green color. You can read more about Matheran and Charlotte lake here.

Hi Guys, long time no see :-) I'd been busy with lots of work. Last weekend, my wife and me visited Matheran and there, I got an opportunity to click some photographs. Rustic Wheel is one of them. The machinery in the picture is a very old sugarcane juice extractor lying unused for a long time. This picture was shot at the Rambaug Point where we took a break from trekking for the morning tea and breakfast. The canteen was located right at the edge of a valley and thus gave a very pleasant view. The weather in Matheran was chilling but pleasant. The two days stay involved hours of trekking leaving us completely tired, but it was a welcome change for the otherwise busy life :-)
Coming Soon: More pictures from Matheran.

Although the mountains weren't green and the fog blurred our vision to an extent, Matheran has always been a place of great attraction. I knew I'd not be able to catch the sunset on time as we reached the sunset point in Matheran a little after the sun had already disappeared. It wasn't dark yet and I managed to click a few Photos of these beautiful Matheran Mountains. I plan to visit this place soon again as the monsoon is just over and I believe I'll get some really green shots of the valley and these mountains. I hope not to miss out on the sunset this time though :-)
